Working with NC has been an incredible experience. The exchange of knowledge has been profound, with NC contributing significantly to Jamaica's development. What stands out the most is Niagara's role as active listeners and their dedication to meeting the needs of local partners. In Jamaica, we have a saying that goes, ‘dance at home before you dance overseas', and that is what NC does.

The program has increased my motivation, confidence, and preparedness to deal with challenges in education. I can make more dynamic and engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of each student. I met people from different backgrounds, learned about their traditions and shared my own culture with them. The cultural exchange was one of the most enriching parts of my time at NC.

One important program outcome of this customized capacity-building program was to build a strong relationship between CRU and NC. We deeply appreciate the NC team’s devotion to our learning and for arranging such a remarkable program in which we developed our English skills. Personally, I have also gained a solid knowledge about educational applications and how to better engage and motivate my students to learn more effectively through technology.

This project has helped elevate the understanding of professional brewing in Bhutan and boosted our young brewers’ confidence and morale. The partnership with NC has enabled us to develop two new recipes, a lager and honey, and to work on the development of a brand identity. NC’s experts have also helped us write a gender policy plan and see how business and sustainability can go hand in hand, which is a big step toward having an equal and sustainable working environment.

The Niagara College team has shared unique ways of managing and teaching with us, which will allow us to improve our programs even more and develop many success stories. One of them is about a group of seven female graduates from the Carpentry program who opened their own carpentry business. They are exporting products to Germany and looking to hire more women.

NC became a home away from home. The program was one of the richest learning experiences we have ever had. NC is the finest example of expanding educational horizons… ‘applied dreams’ as a place where you can experience extensive learning, offering a wealth of learning opportunities. I believe NC provides the best that Canada’s higher education can offer to a student, and to the international student, a sense of the uniquely warm set of Canadian values and culture.

Niagara College was selected to work with the EU-funded Skills and Technical Education Programme in Malawi because of its considerable international experience in supporting decentralization efforts in Technical Vocational and Education Training as well as the positive endorsements it received from Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC), Bonn.
