The Opportunity
- Through international partnerships, NC brings students from various countries into its postsecondary and English Language programs delivered at both the Welland and Daniel J. Patterson Campuses.
- Many NC partners have students who are looking to pursue English Language skills training to better prepare them academically for English speaking studies or for the workplace, while others are hoping the program will create a pathway to continue their studies at NC in a postsecondary certificate, degree or graduate program.
- University and College level students enroll in the program from key partner institutions in Japan.
Our Approach
- Maintains long term partnerships with educational institutions in Japan to provide comprehensive English programming in Canada.
- Offers programs with:
- Flexible start dates
- Five different entry levels depending on current English proficiency, from beginner through advanced.
- Delivers courses including:
- Academic Writing and Grammar
- Reading and Vocabulary Development
- Speaking, Pronunciation and Presentation Skills
- Listening and Note-taking Skills
- Research Skills for Academic Study
Partner Outcomes and Success
- Students receive a certificate upon successful completion of Level 5 and are eligible to apply to study for one or two terms in a Niagara College postsecondary program.
- Students have the opportunity to enhance their global competencies by participating in cultural and social programming as a part of their immersion in the Niagara community.
- Students improve their English proficiency, which they can apply in their future careers.
