The Opportunity
- CRU in Thailand sought to strengthen learners’ English language skills and enhance their English pedagogical skills.
- They required a dual approach for the program:
- Improving and refining English language skills.
- Enhancing educators’ English pedagogical skills through the acquisition of tools, techniques and strategies that were adapted and implemented in their respective classrooms.
Our Approach
- Developed a customized capacity-building program to be offered online over eight weeks.
- Led collaboration between CRU and the School of English Studies.
- Delivered online “live” Zoom classes.
- Supported faculty learners with asynchronous activities posted on ‘Moodle’, a learning management system, providing direct access to all class information, presentations and supporting documents.
- Conducted a needs assessment prior to the start of the program and created classes based on the results.
- Offered courses such as English Skills Renewal and Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century; including best practices in student-centred teaching, and creating an inclusive classroom.
- Trained participants on the design, development and delivery of instruction to enhance their ability to transfer English language knowledge to their students.
- Included modules on:
- Planning Engaging Lessons
- Assessment
- Universal Design for Learning
- Education Technology
- Classroom Management
